Expo Park Hannover was built in 2000s as an exhibition space for Expo 2000 being part of a reconstruction of the city. Nowadays, it is a huge partially empty business park with low social activity and huge areas covered with parking. Yet the territory is located half an hour from the city center and has the potential for the redevelopment as a socially active, livable public space so needed for the surrounding and planned residential areas.
During the pandemic, while looking for the opportunities to expand the scope of projects, WPIARC decided to create a concept for the redevelopment of this territory. To make it more interesting, we decided to run an experimental cooperation with the group of students from Moscow Architectural Institute (MARHI) led by our local partners Buro Vozduh.

WPIARC prepared the area analysis and recommendations on the infrastructure reuse, functional and events program, core scopes for the redevelopment. And the students were given this territory for their projects of residential district with the aim to include social function and commercial activity based on the research.
